Before becoming a professional poker player, Antonius was a tennis player and tennis coach.
Early in his poker career, he was mentored by the Dutch poker pro Marcel Lüske (“The Flying Dutchman”) as a part of Lüske’s “Circle of Outlaws”. Antonius has also been coached by Jennifer Harman.

Before the year was over, Antonius also made it to second place in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, bringing home a runner-up prize of $1,046,470.

As of 2016, Antonius had brought in more than $6,775,000 in prize money from live tournaments, including 14 WSOP cashes worth $900,000+.
Antonius appeared on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth season of GSN’s TV-show High Stakes Poker. Along with Sammy Farha, he was involved in the largest pot in the history of the show: $998,800. Due to a deal between Farha and Antonius, the Finn got $749,100 of the pot and Farha the rest.
Antonius has appeared in NBC’s TV-show Poker After Dark. One of his more notable pots there was one containing almost $600,000 and which he lost to Tom Dwan. This was the largest pot in the history of the TV-show.
At his very first appearance at the show, Antonius finished as runner-up, with Jennifer Harman winning. At his next appearance, he won, with Brad Booth as runner-up. For his third appearance, he became runner-up again, this time against Johnny Chan.
